Center Receives $1.7 million from U.S. Treasury!

The Center for Rural Health
 Development Inc.

The Center for Rural Health Development Inc. is a private, non-profit organization created in 1994 to provide leadership on rural health issues. It serves as a technical assistance and resource center to improve access to health care services in rural and underserved areas of the state. The Center’s areas of focus include:

  • Recruitment and retention of rural health care providers
  • Leadership development in rural communities
  • Development of rural provider networks
  • Technical assistance and consultation to rural providers
  • Community Forums on rural health access issues
  • Rural Health Policy Institutes for policy makers and other leaders
  • Linkages between economic development and health care
  • Administering a Loan Fund for rural health providers

  • The Center provides a neutral forum in which consumers, health care providers, community and business leaders and policy makers can come together to share information and enhance understanding, leading to the best solutions to address the health needs of rural and underserved communities in West Virginia.

    The Center is also the lead agency for the West Virginia Rural Health Access Program.
