West Virginia Rural Health Infrastructure Loan Fund

The West Virginia Rural Health Infrastructure Loan Fund (Loan Fund) was created in 2001 by the Center for Rural Health Development, Inc.   Today, it serves as a catalyst lender, working with banks and other local lenders to facilitate capital improvements for West Virginia's health care providers by providing access to an affordable and flexible source of financing.

Key to the success of the Loan Fund has been the Center's ability to work in partnership with many of the banks and other lenders serving the state - from some of West Virginia's largest banks with a national presence to our smallest local, community banks.

Technical Assistance is Crucial

Just as important as lending capital provided through the Loan Fund is the technical assistance made available.  This technical assistance provides the opportunity for West Virginia health care providers, whether sole practitioners or larger health system rural providers, access to experienced professionals who can serve to assist in advancing health care infrastructure improvements.

The Center's experience and understanding of the health care delivery system in West Virginia, and helps creat the most prudent balance of interest rates, terms and conditions for each unique project.

RETURN ON INVESTMENT TO WEST VIRGINIA
The Loan Fund illustrates how the public and private sectors can partner to bolster the economies of rural communities.  To date, for every $1 the State of West Virginia invested in the Loan Fund, an additional $8 has been leveraged to strengthen West Virginia's rural health infrastructure.
